Arch Fender Flare Up - How I Installed My Car's Arch Fender

Arch Fender Flares is an all round good investment. The flare kit is built sturdy and well constructed. Installing the Arch Fender may not be as easy as you think. It is not going to come as easy as replacing the seat covers, trim and dash board. If you do not take the time to install your new Arch Fender correctly you will probably end up spending more money than you wanted to spend, not to mention, you will have a lot of frustration with the flare system is falling apart in a short time.

I took my car to my local mechanic and he suggested that I take it in for an inspection. I was shocked when he told me that the whole under tail light was coming off. It was the first thing that caught my attention. I really thought it was just a fuse, but when he told me that the whole fender went off, I was in trouble. I had to call my other friends and the mechanic at work to come and take a look. He informed me that I had to replace the fender along with the fuse.

Now I had a huge mess on my hands. I installed the new Arch Fender correctly, but because of the way I did it, there were some gapped areas, which are the places where the fuses come off. So, to avoid gapping, I'm going to place some PVC pipe across those areas, and then tack some UV caulking between the pipe and the Arch Fender flares, so that they are permanently sealed together. I'm going to use some aluminum flashing to cover the seams of the flares. By doing that, the flares will be very hard to pop.

Now, I want to take my car in to get it painted. I found out that I didn't have to go through my garage to install my Arch Fender, but instead, I just went into my daughter's room and used her old bed for the frame. I slid the frame under the bed and then just stuck the new Arch Fender flares under the frame, aligning them properly with the holes in the frame. Then I drilled some more holes in the frame to hold the bolts. And then I was ready to paint my ride.

Unfortunately, as I was installing all the trim, I also install some hardware that goes all the way from the engine to the doors. This can be a real pain, because I don't have any screws to keep everything tight. The problem is that some of the hardware is actually pretty heavy, so I have to make sure that I install it properly. I wasn't able to find any "how-to" information on it, so I ended up having to make a few cuts on my car to make the hardware fit properly.

Last, I sanded the metal down a bit, because the shiny metal look isn't going to work. And then I tried it. It works! I was very surprised at how nice it looked, and now I am going to install some more in my next car.
